Liseron: Juneau to Sitka
Seven nights with The Boat Company from Juneau to Sitka: the first in a Juneau hotel the fare includes, the other six aboard the 20-guest Liseron, a wooden former French Navy minesweeper of 1952. The line's sample itinerary crosses Stephens Passage on the first evening, spends a morning in the skiffs at the face of a tidewater glacier at the head of a fjord, walks old-growth game trails and visits a sea lion haul-out in the Brothers Islands and Pybus Bay off Admiralty Island, kayaks under the waterfalls of Red Bluff Bay on Baranof Island, anchors in Kelp Bay for its humpbacks and brown bears, and takes the Forest Service trail to Lake Eva before the last night in Peril Strait. Every day offers guided hiking, kayaking and saltwater or fly fishing from 20-foot skiffs, chosen on the day. The line says the route changes with weather and wildlife.
