Liseron: Sitka to Juneau
Seven nights with The Boat Company from Sitka to Juneau: the first in a Sitka hotel the fare includes, the other six aboard the 20-guest Liseron, a wooden former French Navy minesweeper of 1952. The line's sample itinerary runs Peril Strait on the first evening, takes the Forest Service trail to Lake Eva, anchors in Kelp Bay for its humpbacks and brown bears, kayaks under the waterfalls of Red Bluff Bay on Baranof Island, walks old-growth game trails and fishes around the Brothers Islands and Pybus Bay off Admiralty Island, and spends the last full day in the skiffs at the face of a tidewater glacier before the ship comes into Juneau. Every day offers guided hiking, kayaking and saltwater or fly fishing from 20-foot skiffs, chosen on the day. The line says the route changes with weather and wildlife.
