Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek
New to trekking, or short on time? The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek delivers one of Nepal's great mountain panoramas in just 9 days, without taking you to high altitude. From Pokhara the trail climbs through terraced farmland and Magar villages to Ghorepani, a hillside village wrapped in rhododendron forest that bursts into red and pink bloom in spring. Before dawn you head up Poon Hill (3,210 m) to watch the sun rise over Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. The return loop leads through quiet forest to Tadapani and down to Ghandruk, a stone-built Gurung village and historic home of Gurkha soldiers, where traditional life and big mountain views go hand in hand. Days are short enough to leave time for tea stops, village visits and photos, and every night is spent in a cozy teahouse. With two nights in lakeside Pokhara as well, it is a relaxed yet rewarding way to experience the Himalayas, ideal for first-time trekkers and anyone with limited time.
