Grand Canyon South Kaibab Guided Hike with Lunch
Hike below the rim of the Grand Canyon with a local guide on the South Kaibab Trail, the South Rim's most scenic route into the canyon. Built along open ridgelines, it offers sweeping views from the first switchback. Travelers ride the free park shuttle to the trailhead, then descend 3 miles and about 2,000 feet to Skeleton Point, stopping at Ooh Aah Point and Cedar Ridge. At Skeleton Point you'll enjoy lunch with your first view of the Colorado River before climbing back to the rim. Along the way, your guide brings the canyon to life: spot fossil footprints, walk through 70 million years of rock layers, and hear why the Park Service built this trail in 1925. Groups are small (8 guests max), and your guide handles logistics and safety so you can focus on the views. Loaner trekking poles, daypacks and microspikes are available on request. This is a strenuous hike: the climb out takes about twice as long as the descent.
