Mkomazi National Park Private Day Safari from Moshi
Escape the crowds on a private day safari to Mkomazi National Park, one of Tanzania's least visited parks. While the northern circuit fills with vehicles, here you often have the bush, and the sightings, to yourself. Mkomazi is semi-arid savannah at the foot of the Pare and Usambara Mountains, close to the Kenyan border. It is the place to see dry-country animals that are rare elsewhere in Tanzania, like gerenuk, lesser kudu and fringe-eared oryx, along with elephants, giraffes, zebras and buffalo. The park protects endangered black rhinos and runs a breeding program for African wild dogs, and more than 450 bird species have been recorded. Your driver-guide picks you up in Moshi and drives about 3 hours to Zange Gate. You spend around 6 hours on game drives with a picnic lunch, then return to Moshi in the evening. Park and vehicle fees, lunch and water are included. A visit to the rhino sanctuary can be added for an extra fee.
