Sacred Mountain Oyama Walking Tour Culture and Nature

Escape the city and join me on a memorable day trip exploring the rich history and natural beauty. Just one hour from central Tokyo, you’ll find a serene landscape that has inspired pilgrims, samurai, and travelers for generations. We meet at Isehara Station on the Odakyu Line and take a bus to the base of Mount Oyama. From there, enjoy a scenic six-minute cable car ride to Oyama Afuri Shrine. After visiting the shrine, we descend by cable car and stroll through the historic streets. For lunch, enjoy a bowl of ramen at a charming restaurant renovated from a former pilgrim’s lodging. In the afternoon, we travel by bus to Hinata Yakushi Temple, a peaceful forest sanctuary with over 1,200 years of history. Inside, you’ll see remarkable Buddhist statues designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, reflecting the region’s deep spiritual roots. We then return to Isehara Station by bus, concluding the tour with lasting memories of Kanagawa’s spiritual heritage and natural beauty.
