Fogo Island Inn
A landmark of contemporary architecture raised on stilts over the rocky North Atlantic shore, where full-board stays of three nights or more come with adventures and cultural experiences led by members of the island community. Huge bay windows frame the seven seasons that punctuate the island year — whales breaching the waves, icebergs drifting in the distance — and the restaurant sources 80 percent of its ingredients locally. The inn runs on a regenerative model: all profits are donated to Shorefast, the Canadian charity working toward the economic development of the island. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
