Guango Lodge
A small birding lodge near the páramo and hot springs of Papallacta, known above all for its hummingbirds: the lodge says seeing 14 species within an hour at its feeders is not uncommon, among them the Sword-billed Hummingbird, the Tourmaline Sunangel and the White-bellied Woodstar. Trails fan out from the lodge into Andean temperate forest, where mountain-toucans and tanagers feed. There are seven double rooms and one single, each with a private bathroom and hot water, two social areas with coffee and tea all day, fireplaces, and Ecuadorian home-style meals. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
