Laguna Lodge Eco-Resort & Nature Reserve
A small lakeside lodge on the shore of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala's western highlands, reached by boat and set at the foot of its own nature reserve, with views across the water to the Atitlán, Tolimán and San Pedro volcanoes. The suites are built of volcanic stone, adobe and palm, each with a hand-hewn bed, woven textiles and indigenous antiques, and most open onto a balcony or patio over the lake. Trails climb from the lakefront through the reserve's tropical dry forest to its top at 1,963 metres, where some of the last primary forest on the lake survives. Zotz, the restaurant, cooks meat-free with produce from the lodge's organic gardens, and the Hummingbird spa and a hot spa pool sit by the water. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
