Matachica Resort & Spa
An adults-only beach resort (16 and over) on Ambergris Caye, five miles north of San Pedro, reached by a fifteen-minute flight from Belize City to the San Pedro airstrip and then the resort's own speedboat up the coast. Its 32 casitas and villas were redesigned in 2019 with tropical murals by the illustrator Cécile Gariépy; every room has air conditioning and continental breakfast is included, and there are no phones in the rooms and no TVs anywhere on the property. Mambo, the resort's restaurant, looks over the Caribbean Sea. A stay includes sea kayaks, snorkel gear, pedal boats, paddle boards, Sunfish sailboats and bicycles, and from the dock you can swim, or kayak out to the reef to snorkel.
