San Ignacio Lagoon Gray Whales, Glamping Camp, 4 days
Every winter Eastern Pacific gray whales migrate to the sheltered lagoons of Baja California Sur to breed and calve, and San Ignacio Lagoon, a UNESCO protected reserve halfway up the peninsula, is where some of them choose to approach small boats, close enough to be eye to eye and sometimes to be touched. The operator has run these encounters since 1972, with 5,000 to 6,000 whales visiting the lagoon between December and May; the camps open in mid January. A complimentary afternoon of humpback whale watching in Cabo is offered the day before the trip to guests who sign up ahead. This is the four day stay at the San Ignacio Glamping Camp.
