Swim with Blue Whales, Timor-Leste
Snorkel with the blue whales of the Banda Sea off Timor-Leste during their short southwest migration toward the Southern Ocean. The operator times its sessions to the historical peak of that movement, the four weeks of November, and has run these expeditions since 2019 with the local team that first approached these whales in the water in 2016. Five days on the ocean with a local guide and captain, in-water groups of three to four people, and no scuba required. Sperm whales, pilot whales and false killer whales are regularly encountered alongside the blues. Included: six nights of twin share accommodation on land with breakfast, airport transfers on expedition dates, lunch and non-alcoholic drinks on the water, photography tuition and digital access to the trip photos. Not included: flights, gratuities and travel insurance, which is required.
