Jade Mountain Resort
Twenty-nine sanctuaries at different heights on the hillside above the 600-acre Anse Chastanet estate near Soufrière, designed by its architect-owner Nick Troubetzkoy, each with its fourth wall left open to the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea; 24 have a private infinity pool and the five Sky suites a large whirlpool tub instead. There are no televisions and, in all but one, no air conditioning. The estate takes in tropical forest, two beaches and reefs within the Soufrière Marine Management Area, where the resort's dive centre, Scuba St. Lucia, grows coral in nurseries on Anse Chastanet Reef and Turtle Reef. The daily rates include beach chairs and towels, non-motorised water sports and daily guided walks on the estate, and guests share the beaches, restaurants and more than 12 miles of hiking and biking trails of the sister resort below.
