Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge

A wilderness lodge on Pedersen Lagoon off Aialik Bay, inside Kenai Fjords National Park, reached only by boat from Seward, about two and a half hours south of Anchorage. The crossing out and back doubles as a marine wildlife and glacier cruise, past hanging and tidewater glaciers and bird and sea lion rookeries with an eye out for whales. Sixteen log guest cabins with private bathrooms and porches sit along raised boardwalks in the coastal forest looking onto the lagoon, and the timber main lodge has a dining room, a lounge with a wood stove, a bar and a deck facing Pedersen Glacier. Days are spent sea kayaking among harbor seals and floating ice, canoeing the lagoon, walking the forest trails and beachcombing on Aialik Bay, with a cedar sauna to finish; sea otters and seals use the lagoon in front of the deck, and bears are sometimes seen in a nearby meadow. Stays are sold as packages of one night or more from June to September, with every meal, the guided activities and the boat included. The lodge is off the grid, with no internet or cell service. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
