Hotel Villa San Ignacio

A seven-acre garden hotel near Juan Santamaría International Airport and downtown Alajuela, built on a former coffee estate a mid-century botanist once owned and planted; the grounds now hold wildflowers and fruit trees that draw butterflies and birds, including a large Higuerón fig tree the Deluxe Queen rooms and Master Suites overlook. Guest rooms range from twin and queen rooms near the pool to two-bedroom master suites and a geodesic dome set back in the woods, decorated with ironwork beds and pieces from local artisans. The Pandora restaurant and bar occupies a renovated coffee farmhouse once known as Marilyn Monroe's Bar, with tables on a terrace by the pool and gardens. Walking and birding trails, a pool, billiards and a badminton court are on the grounds. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
