Denali Backcountry Lodge
An all-inclusive fly-in lodge of private cedar cabins at Kantishna, the old gold-mining settlement at Mile 92 where the Denali Park Road ends, deep inside Denali National Park at the foot of the Alaska Range. While the park road stays closed at Mile 43 (the lodge expects that through summer 2026), guests arrive by helicopter from the park entrance, flying at eye level with Denali. Days are naturalist-guided or self-guided: hikes from nature strolls to summit-bound treks, mountain bikes, kayaks and paddleboards on Wonder Lake, fishing and gold panning on Moose Creek, all included along with meals, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks; the bar and massage at The Nest wellness center cost extra. Bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep and grey wolves, Alaska’s Big 5, roam the surrounding backcountry.
