El Nido del Cóndor Ecolodge and Wellness Center

An ecolodge of five safari tents and a villa on a plateau in the mountains of Caldas, 23 km from Manizales along the unpaved Ruta del Cóndor, named for the pair of Andean Condors that has nested in a wall of the plateau for more than twenty years. The land, a former cattle farm, is a private nature reserve (RNSC 039-22) where the lodge studies the condors and restores the native flora. Guests leave vehicles at the base station and cross by a 530-metre cable car, or walk or ride about 2.3 km down across the river and up again. Each tent has two decks with hammocks, a fireplace and a king bed; the villa takes up to eight. There are eight trails, bird watching, a night walk, cave visits, a pollinator garden, horse rides, stargazing, and a wellness centre with a wood-fired sauna, hot and cold tubs and massage; a private bilingual guide can go along on any of them. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
