Mundo Nuevo Eco Lodge
An eco lodge on the ridge of Mundo Nuevo above Minca, at about 1,000 metres in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, on what was a cattle and coffee farm, Finca Las Mercedes. Since 2016 the land has been planted with collections of plants, shrubs and trees, among them a heliconia collection, and the organic food on the table is grown in the lodge's own vegetable gardens; the restaurant cooks vegetarian dishes from them, with an animal protein option each evening. Rooms, suites, two dormitories and whole houses sit in and around the old finca, many looking over the Sierra and Awindua, the Wiwa village a 15-minute walk below. The lodge's guide leads a two-hour bird walk at 6 am, and there is a heated infinity pool with a bar, massages on request and a free 45-minute signposted forest walk to a viewpoint.
