Pousada Aguapé
A family farm lodge in the southern Pantanal at Fazenda São José, 54 km from Aquidauana and 195 km from Campo Grande, the last 50 km on a dirt road. The family has held the land for more than 150 years: Pantanal vegetation mixed with cerrado, lakes, seasonal channels and the Aquidauana River with its riverside forest, where more than 300 bird species have been recorded. The nightly rate includes meals (drinks aside) and two outings a day with a local guide, chosen from horse rides, photo safaris in an open 4x4, motorboat trips on the Aquidauana, walks through forest and open fields, a carriage ride and piranha fishing, and on one night of each stay a spotlighting outing.
