Tominejo Ecolodge

A small ecolodge of treehouses on a farm in the hills of Neira, in the north of Caldas, 25 minutes from Manizales, where its owners began planting native trees in 2013 to bring back birds and protect the water and soil; more than 70% of the land, cattle pasture for decades, has been reforested with over 7,000 trees. It opened to guests in 2021. The Piranga Rubra treehouse stands 11 metres up with three trees built into it, within sound of the Tominejo creek; the Golden Tanager is built of wood around four trees on two levels joined by a wooden bridge; and the Squirrel Cuckoo, reached along garden paths, has an open-air bathroom with a wooden soaking tub. The rate includes breakfast and accompanied walks on two forest trails, one past a waterfall with a natural pool. Lunch and dinner are served in the dining room from a slow-food menu partly grown in the farm's garden, and the evening ends at a campfire. Booked for you by an affiliated travel advisor.
